Using the Risk Bordereau report

This article explains how to access the Risk Bordereau by navigating to the Bordereau section in the Reporting tab

There are four sections to this article


Running a Risk Bordereau report:

  1. Navigate to the Reports tab in the Side Navigation Bar and ensure the Standard section is selected.
  2. On the left, select the Bordereau reports subsection, then click Risk Bordereau Report.
  3. The Risk Bordereu contains dates and times in the timezone that is set up for BindHQ (e.g. EST)
  4. The Risk Bordereau lists the transactions that happened during the selected time period broken down by sub-location (building) with data (limits, deductibles, etc.) at time of the transaction.

Date filtering can happen based on:

  • Transaction Date: date of the transaction
  • Accounting Date: latter of the transaction or the effective date

Lines of Business & Reported Fields

The Risk Bordereau can be used to report on: Commercial Property, General Liability, Dwelling Fire, Homeowners

The Risk Bordereau report contains the following fields:

  • Policy #
    Policy number of the transaction
  • Policy Type
    Type of the transaction:
    IF new business then: 'New Business'
    IF renewal then 'Renewal'
    IF monied endorsement then: 'Endorsement'
    IF cancellation then: 'Cancellation'
    If non-monied endorsement: 'Amendement'
    If Reinstatement then 'reinstatement'
    If 'void' then: 'void from inception'
  • Type of Insurance (Direct or Type or Reinsurance)
    Type of insurance or reinsurance. Data can be:
    - Direct
    - Excess of Loss
    - Facultative Reinsurance
    - Treaty Reinsurance
  • LOB
    List of the associated Line of Businesses on the policy
  • Transaction Type - Original Premium etc.
    The type of the transaction: e.g BIND, CANCELLATION
  • Policyholder Named Insured
    Full name of the insured
  • Risk Inception Date
    Effective date of the policy
  • Risk Expiry Date
    Expiration date of the policy
  • Location #
    Location number on the policy
  • Bldg #
    Sublocation (= Building) number on the policy
  • Street Address
    Street and Address of the location on the transaction
  • City
    City of the location on the transaction
  • County
    County of the location on the transaction
  • State
    State of the location on the transaction
  • ZIP
    Postal code of the location on the transaction
  • SqFt
    Area of the sub-location (building) expressed in Square Feet
  • A - Building Value
    For Personal Lines: 'Coverage A, Building' limit of the building
    For Commercial Lines: Coverage limit of 'Building' Coverage of the building
    If no Coverage added then the cell in the report will contain: NULL/empty cell/0
  • B - Other Structure Value
    For Personal Lines: Coverage B, Other Structures limit of the building
    For Commercial Lines: Coverage limit of 'Other Structures' coverage of the building
  • C - Contents Value
    For Personal Lines: Coverage C, Personal Property limit of the building
    For Commercial Lines: Coverage limit of 'Contents (Personal Property)' coverage of the building
  • D - Loss of Use/ Business Interruption
    For Personal Lines: 'Loss of use' coverage limit of the building
    For Commercial lines: either 'Business income with extra expense' coverage or 'Business income without extra expense' coverage limit of the building
  • TIV 100%
    Total insured value: Total limit of coverages A + B + C + D listed above
  • 100% Base Premium (Excl. EB, TRIA and Liab)
    Property premium for certain location not including premium for equipment breakdown, TRIA or Liability at time of the transaction (including billed premiums from all previous transactions)
    If a coverage is added as an additional coverage and is not associated to a location it won’t be listed.
  • Sum insured currency
    Currency of the total TIV on the policy (all locations)
  • Sum insured amount
    For Commercial Lines policies this is the sum of the following limits (if applicable):
    Building coverage limit, Other structures coverage limit, Contents limit, Business income with/without extra expense limit, General Liability each occurrence limit and Medical payments limit
    For Personal Lines policies this is the sum of the following limits (if applicable): Dwelling (Coverage A) limit, Other Structures (Coverage B) limit, Personal Property limit, Loss of Use limit, Personal Liability limit and Medical Payments limit
    This field is calculated for the policy total for that endorsement.
  • Rate
    The highest rate of the main coverage ('Coverage A - Building' for Homeowners and Dwelling LOBs; 'Building' coverage for Commercial Property.
    If no main coverage on the sub location then this field will be blank
  • Ded %
    % AOP deductible of the main coverage (Cov-A, Building for HO and Dwell; 'building' for CP) if exists

    If no main coverage on the sub location then this field takes the highest AOP % deductible that exists on the sub location

    IF no AOP % deductible then BLANK
  • Deductible amount
    Flat AOP deductible of the main coverage (Cov-A, Building for HO and Dwell; 'building' for CP)

    If no main coverage on the sub location then this field takes the highest AOP full $ deductible that exists on the sub location

    IF no AOP deductible then BLANK
  • Commission amount
    Flat $ amount of the gross commission for the transaction (not broken down by building)
  • Commission %
    Percentage amount of the gross commission for the transaction
  • Exclude Wind
    If wind excluded box is checked on the building, this value is 'Yes'. Any other case, it is 'No'
  • Wind Ded %
    If applicable 'Wind' or 'Wind/Hail' deductible on the building in percentage amount
  • Wind Ded $
    If applicable 'Wind' or 'Wind/Hail' deductible on the building in flat $ amount
  • ISO Construction Code
    Construction code (number) according to ISO standard:
    Construction Class 1: Frame - 1
    Construction Class 2: Joisted Masonry - 2
    Construction Class 3: Noncombustible - 3
    Construction Class 4: Masonry Noncombustible - 4
    Construction Class 5: Modified Fire Resistive - 5
    Construction Class 6: Fire Resistive - 6
  • ISO Construction Description
    Construction Class 1: Frame - FRAME
    Construction Class 2: Joisted Masonry - JM
    Construction Class 3: Noncombustible - NC
    Construction Class 4: Masonry Noncombustible - MNC
    Construction Class 5: Modified Fire Resistive - MFR
    Construction Class 6: Fire Resistive - FR
  • Year Built
    Built year of the building
  • Year Structurally Updated
    If applicable the most recent year from recorded building updates (roof, wiring, heating, plumbing)
  • # of buildings
    Total numbers of sub locations (buildings) on the policy with property coverage.
  • # of stories
    No. of stories of the building
  • Protection class
    Protection class recorded for the building, 1 - 10
  • Roof Year
    If applicable year of roof improvement
  • Sprinklers?
    If 'Fully' or 'Partial' sprinklers are recorded for the building then 'YES' otherwise 'NO'
  • Burglar Alarm
    If 'Central Station Burglar Alarm' is recorded for the building then 'YES' otherwise 'NO'
  • Fire Alarm
    If 'Central Station Fire Alarm' is recorded for the building then 'YES' otherwise 'NO'
  • TRIA?
    If TRIA is purchased for the policy 'YES' otherwise 'NO'
  • TRIA Premium
    If applicable Premium for TRIA coverage
    Total, not broken down by building, as of time of the endorsement
  • Liability Limit
    For Personal Lines: Personal Liability Limit and Medical Payments
    Commercial Lines:
    General Liability lists Each occurrence limit plus Medical Expense limit
    Property Policies will leave this box blank
    Total, not broken down by building, as of time of the endorsement
  • Liability premium
    For Personal Lines: Personal Liability and Medical Payments Premium
    Commercial Lines:
    General Liability Premium

  • Equipment breakdown
    If 'Equipment Breakdown' coverage is added then 'YES' otherwise 'NO'
  • Equipment breakdown - Rate
    If 'Equipment Breakdown' coverage is added then it's rate is displayed
  • Equipment breakdown - Limit
    If 'Equipment Breakdown' coverage is added then the limit is displayed
    Total, not broken down by building, as of time of the endorsement
  • Equipment breakdown - Premium
    If 'Equipment Breakdown' coverage is added then premium charge is displayed
    Total, not broken down by building, as of time of the endorsement
  • Coverholder Name
    Name of the Coverholder based on the contract
  • Reporting period start date
    First day of the report filtering
  • Reporting period end date
    Last day of the report filtering
  • Unique Market Reference #
    Contract Number
  • Binder Expire
    Day which the binder expires
  • Gross premium (100%)
    Total gross billed premium for the policy
  • Original Currency
    Original currency of the policy
  • Settlement Currency
    The settlement currency of the policy
  • Gross premium paid this time
    The gross premium paid to the Marketing Company for the transaction
  • Country
    Country of the Risk location

The report can be downloaded in CSV format to do further analysis on it or to share it with outside parties, like Lloyd's of London brokers.

Use the text import wizard in Excel to convert the CSV to an excel file. It is advised to select the cell format as 'text' to keep the ZIP codes starting with a 0 as their original value.

  • Data > From Text
  • Select CSV > Import
  • Choose 'Delimited' file type > Next
  • Select 'Comma' only as the delimiter > Next
  • Select 'ZIP Code' column and set 'Text' as column data format > Finish

Invalidated endorsements and voids.

Invalidated endorsements are displayed in the report with negative premium (if monied endorsement)
